The 2017 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru, of which there are three-and-a-half barrels this year, has quite a strong menthol aroma on the nose that is appealing, though it does occlude the terroir a little. The medium-bodied palate offers sappy black fruit laced with graphite and cedar and a tang of black olive on the finish. Certainly a more masculine Clos Saint-Denis. Very fine.
